412 2024 30 Hour Famine

Your child would like to participate in our 412 Student Ministry 30 Hour Famine Event on May 10th - 11th, 2024.

Participation means that your child will:

  • Will fast (not eat) for 30 hours. Starting after lunch on Friday May  10th 2024

  • Drink only water and juice during those 30 hours.

  • Bring their Famine funds that they have raised, to the church on the day of the event. (May 10th, 2024)

  • Come to the church straight after school Friday afternoon (starts @ 5 PM), stay overnight, and participate until AFTER clean up and the Break-The-Fast meal Saturday evening (Event will be over between 7:30-8 PM).

  • Participate in activities/games some of which involve dangers and risk of bodily injury.

  • Sign In when they arrive and Sign Out when they leave.

  • Leave the church campus to do a service project, traveling in our church van and staff vehicles (your signature at the bottom acknowledges and approves your child leaving the church campus).

About Fasting

The average, healthy person is able to go without food for 30 hours without any ill effects. Exceptions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Children under the age of 12

  • Pregnant or nursing women

  • People over the age of 65

  • People with diabetes, reactive hypoglycemia, an eating disorder, or any combination of biological, psychological, and environmental conditions which could precipitate an eating disorder

Please note: Because the above medical conditions are not always obvious, if you have any concerns about your child’s health while taking part in the 30 Hour Famine, you are strongly encouraged to consult with your child’s physician prior to his or her participation. Your signature at the bottom of this form implies that you have taken this precaution and are allowing your child’s participation with fully informed consent and relieving and exempting Hillsboro Christian Church, its staff and adult volunteers from liability for any health issues related to or not related to fasting for 30 hours, any personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death during this event on May 10th - 11th, 2024.

What To Bring: Sleeping Bag (or bedding of some sort for sleeping on the floor), pillow, toiletries, change of clothes, optional: active wear for games, and stuff for a shower if you would like to take a shower. If able: A bottle of juice to share. Nothing acidic.
